WhatsApp Cloud API integration

Use Meta's WhatsApp Cloud API directly, and handle every traveller chat inside your travel CRM.

By the Tripdocks team · Last updated

Tripdocks connects to the WhatsApp Business Platform through Meta's Cloud API, so businesses that manage their own WhatsApp account with Meta can chat with leads from inside the CRM. Inbound messages open a conversation thread, new numbers become leads automatically, and delivery and read receipts show in the thread.

How it works

  1. In Tripdocks, open Settings → Integrations → WhatsApp Business and add your number.
  2. Enter the credentials your provider gives you and save. Tripdocks shows a webhook URL unique to that number.
  3. Register that webhook URL with your provider so inbound messages and status updates reach Tripdocks.
  4. Optionally route the number to a team, then set it to Active.

What you need

  • A WhatsApp Business Platform app in your Meta Developer account.
  • Your Phone Number ID and WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) ID, from the app's API Setup page.
  • A permanent System User access token with the whatsapp_business_messaging permission.
  • Your business number in E.164 format, for example +919876543210.

What your team gets

  • Every inbound message opens a conversation thread in Tripdocks; if the phone number is new, a lead is created automatically.
  • Conversations appear in the Chat section in real time, and the team replies from inside the CRM.
  • Multiple business numbers on one account — for example one per office or team — each with its own provider if you like.
  • The chat stays attached to the traveller, so the conversation, the quote, and the booking stay connected.
  • Delivery and read receipts inline in the conversation thread (Cloud API supports status updates).

Step-by-step instructions are in the WhatsApp Business setup guide. Leads from every connected channel land in the same queue — see lead management.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a BSP to use WhatsApp with Tripdocks?
No. With the Meta Cloud API option you connect your own WhatsApp Business Platform app directly. If you already use AiSensy or Gupshup as your Business Solution Provider, Tripdocks supports those too.
Can I message a lead at any time?
WhatsApp allows free-form replies for 24 hours after the lead's last message. Outside that window WhatsApp requires a pre-approved template message; template support in Tripdocks is coming soon.
